Joined by expert guest Maria Finn, author of the new cookbook Forage. Gather. Feast., they learn about how the West has a bounty of edible flora and how to travel to find it. Maria shares stories from her long career as a professional forager, and tips on how to make sure you are safe and prepared before embarking on a trek into the woods (hiring a guide is first on that list).

Maria Finn is an author, chef, and speaker. She lives on a houseboat in Sausalito. Before adopting Flora Jayne, the truffle dog-in-training, she was an ocean faring cat lady. (She still loves the sea and her cats). She often writes about food and sustainability, and so when she began working as a private chef, she focused on sourcing regenerative foods and food she forages along the California Coast. From seaweed to chanterelles, she believes that harvesting wild food is an intimate and visceral way to connect with nature.
