Arizona Gas Prices Inch Lower Despite Strong Demand

Motorists are seeing gas for $2.76 or more at 56 percent of gas stations across the country

Arizona's gas price average is $2.988, which is 2.2 cents less expensive on the week. Today’s gas price average is 8.6 cents cheaper than last month, but 74.3 cents more expensive than at the same time last year.

“Demand for gasoline this summer remains very strong," said Michelle Donati, spokeswoman for AAA Arizona. "This, along with rising crude prices, caused prices to rise in 30 states this week. However, Arizona is among a dozen states to see a price drop."

Alabama and California hold the lowest and highest average price for the lower 48 states at $2.551 and $3.660 per gallon.
